After an extensive search, Nexus Family Healing announced Susan McPherson, MSW, as the Executive Director of its Minnesota foster care agency, Nexus-Kindred Family Healing.

As Executive Director, McPherson will lead strategy, programming, and daily operations of Nexus-Kindred, overseeing the range of foster care programs for youth and families across the state. McPherson will step into the role on January 4, 2021.

McPherson comes to Nexus-Kindred Family Healing with an extensive background in child and family services, including serving as Assistant Director of Clinical and Residential Services at Loudoun County Department of Family Services; as Administrator for Child and Family Service Agency for District of Columbia; and leading group homes, adolescent services, and client health data services for Abbott House in New York.

Much of McPherson’s career has been spent working to improve the lives of youth dealing with behavioral and mental health needs. She’s sat on numerous advisory boards and committees to influence positive changes in the community, including increasing services and combating homelessness for foster care youth aging out of the system, improving the Family Court systems, and addressing needs and barriers in the human services field. McPherson also founded an advocacy nonprofit organization called One ACCORD to bring together the community in overcoming racial disparity.

“Susan is an exceptional community advocate who brings expertise in social services and deep passion for youth and families in our foster care system.  Her vision and commitment to collaboration will be essential to our Minnesota foster care program,” states Margaret Vimont, Vice President of Strategy and Service Development for Nexus Family Healing.
