The past few months have been challenging for everyone – especially our kids – due to major changes to their school and social structures. As we enter the fall school year, students of all ages are feeling the stress and anxiety of new uncertainties and protocols.

To help students prepare for the upcoming challenges they may face due to COVID’s impact on their classroom and overall school experience, the mental health experts at our Minneapolis agency, Nexus-FACTS Family Healing have developed a new online Resiliency Camp. The camp will run from Aug. 17 through Aug. 21 each day from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm CST open to anyone between 12-18 years old. The cost of the camp is $55 and registration is available at resiliencycamp.eventbrite.com.

“Resiliency is the ability to cope successfully with the stresses of life. We’re excited that the online camp will introduce concepts and skills that students can carry with them not only into this current school year, but for years to come,” said Luke Spiegelhoff, clinical director for Nexus-FACTS.

“Building resiliency is woven into our everyday work. What we know from our history supporting families, is that parental involvement and a child’s environment plays a key role in their development. The camp experience is a great way for parents to support their children’s growth and for students to learn more about themselves within the positive and collaborative community of Nexus-FACTS,” Spiegelhoff said.

The Resiliency Camp will cover the following topics:

  • What is resiliency and how is it developed?
  • Creating strong relationships
  • The role of physical health: exercise, diet, meditation
  • Fostering resilient thinking, looking at how thoughts shape our experiences
  • Finding meaning in adversity
  • Using your strengths

Registration will remain open through August 14, 2020. Sign up for Resiliency Camp at resiliencycamp.eventbrite.com, or visit NexusFamilyHealing.org for more information.
