Nexus Family Healing, a national nonprofit organization providing emotional, behavioral, and mental health services to children and families, has named Shannon Amundson as Executive Director of Nexus-East Bethel, the agency’s new Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) targeted to open later this year in East Bethel, MN.

The new PRTF will eventually serve up to 40 children, who are dealing with higher levels of mental and behavioral needs. For the past three years, Amundson has served as the Executive Director of Nexus-Mille Lacs in Onamia, MN where her focus has been on implementing a trauma-informed environment and developing strong community relations. Amundson’s responsibilities will expand to include leadership and operational oversight of both Nexus-Mille Lacs and Nexus-East Bethel. “Minnesota needs more residential capacity for youth who are dealing with higher levels of mental and behavioral health needs. I am so proud to be leading the team that’s bringing this much-needed facility to life in East Bethel, helping to grow the coordinated and expanding resources of Nexus across this part of the state,” said Amundson.

With over 25 years of residential, Department of Human Services (DHS), Department of Corrections (DOC), and Council on Accreditation (COA) experience, Amundson brings vast clinical and industry knowledge and strong leadership to this important position.
