Maya is a Mental Health Practitioner at Nexus-FACTS Family Healing. 

Education/Experience: Maya earned a Master of Clinical Social Work (MSW) degree from the St. Thomas / St. Catherine University School of Social Work in 2011. Earlier in 2001, she earned a Bachelor of Art degree in Sociology / Anthropology, with a minor in African American Studies, from St. Olaf University. Prior to entering the mental health field, she held roles throughout the social service and education fields. Maya has previously worked as a mentor, program consultant, mental health intern, therapeutic pre-school teacher, counselor for the developmentally disabled, domestic abuse advocate and a homelessness prevention advocate.

Specialties: Maya has learned that health is the product of balance and that the voices of too many remains unheard or misunderstood. Her approach to therapy includes a holistic view and is anchored in systems theory. She commonly leverages the strengths of families and their support systems such as spirituality, culture, exercise, nutrition and community support to help individuals rebuild and sustain balance within their lives.
